Test Engineer / Test Automation Engineer to support the specification, development, execution, and continuous improvement of hardware test systems for advanced satellite avionics and hardware. In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally to define test requirements, extend automated test capabilities, and ensure comprehensive validation of both development hardware and production-ready systems.
You will architect test automation solutions, enhance existing test infrastructure, and drive scalable test execution that supports Amazon Leo's ambitious hardware roadmap.
Key ResponsibilitiesTest System Development & Automation- Architect, build, and maintain software solutions that automate hardware test systems using Python across Linux environments.
- Add new features and capabilities to existing hardware test racks; collaborate with the internal test automation lead to plan, schedule, and deliver upgrades.
- Develop and maintain software infrastructure for automated test execution using platforms such as NI TestStand and Keysight OpenTAP.
- Implement automated data collection, monitoring, logging, and analysis systems to ensure fast and accurate evaluation of hardware performance.
Hardware Test Execution & Validation - Support hands-on testing, bring-up, and debugging of programmable electronic hardware using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power sensors, and other RF and electrical test equipment.
- Create detailed hardware test plans and procedures for design verification, validation, and early manufacturing builds.
- Partner with hardware, firmware, and software development teams to evaluate new designs, support rapid prototyping cycles, and validate system functionality.
Documentation, Tools & Process- Work with engineering stakeholders to capture requirements, define interfaces, and maintain detailed engineering documentation including schematics, mechanical drawings, test requirements, and control documents.
- Utilize version control tools such as Git or SVN to manage test code, configuration files, and documentation.
- Contribute to the development of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test frameworks for high-volume or high-reliability applications.
Basic Qualifications- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Aerospace, Automotive, Robotics, Consumer Electronics, Power Electronics, Communications, or similar domains.
- Experience testing and debugging electronic hardware using electrical and RF test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DAQs, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to create comprehensive hardware test plans, procedures, and validation workflows.
- Experience with engineering documentation and version control (schematics, drawings, ICDs, Git/SVN, requirements).
- Strong proficiency with test automation tools and languages (Python, C/C++, Linux).
- Hands-on experience with hardware/firmware bring-up, rapid iteration prototyping, and cross-functional hardware/software integration.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, Ethernet, CAN-FD, RS-232/422/485, GPIB.
