Technical Program Manager – Payments

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) with 9+ years of experience to lead complex, cross-functional programs within the Payments domain. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience managing end-to-end payment platforms, coordinating engineering teams, and delivering scalable, secure, and compliant payment solutions. This role requires deep understanding of payment processing systems, APIs, and financial transaction flows, along with excellent stakeholder and program governance skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage large-scale technical programs across the payments ecosystem, including authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.

• Own end-to-end program delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, and quality.

• Partner with engineering, product, architecture, security, compliance, and operations teams to deliver payment solutions.

• Drive execution of payment gateway integrations, API-based services, and microservices architectures.

• Manage programs related to card payments (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), ACH, wires, RTP, digital wallets, or BNPL solutions.

• Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, SOX, AML, KYC, and regulatory standards.

• Develop and maintain program plans, roadmaps, RAID logs, status reports, and executive dashboards.

• Facilitate PI planning, sprint reviews, dependency management, and release planning in Agile environments.

• Identify and mitigate program risks, proactively addressing technical and operational issues.

• Communicate program status and technical impact clearly to senior leadership and external partners.

• Lead vendor and third-party payment provider coordination.

• Drive continuous improvement in program delivery, tooling, and processes.

Required Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Program Management, or Engineering Program Management.

• Strong domain expertise in Payments / FinTech / Banking systems.

• Hands-on experience with payment processing platforms, transaction lifecycle, and settlement flows.

• Experience managing API-driven systems, distributed systems, and cloud-based architectures.

• Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.

• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar tools.

• Proven ability to manage multiple complex programs simultaneously.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Visa, Mastercard, ACH, RTP, SWIFT, ISO 8583, ISO 20022.

• Knowledge of fraud detection, risk systems, and payment security.

• Experience in PCI compliance, audits, and regulatory environments.

• Background in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

• Experience working with microservices, event-driven architectures, and high-availability systems.

• PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or Agile certifications preferred.

• Prior experience in high-volume transaction environments.
