QA Engineer
Remote in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, or Utah
Contract-to-hire: $45-$55 per hour / $90-$110k annually
Position OverviewOur client is seeking QA Engineer to join our quality assurance team and drive testing excellence across our products. This role focuses on hands-on technical expertise in both manual and automated testing, requiring someone who can design comprehensive test strategies, develop robust testing frameworks, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a passion for quality.
Key ResponsibilitiesTest Strategy & Planning- Design and implement comprehensive test plans and test cases for complex software systems
- Develop testing strategies for new features and product releases
- Identify testing requirements and create detailed test documentation
- Analyze requirements and collaborate with development teams to ensure testability
Automated Testing- Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and test suites
- Create and execute automated tests for web applications, APIs, and mobile platforms
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor and maintain test automation infrastructure
Manual Testing- Perform thorough manual testing for complex features and edge cases
- Execute exploratory testing to identify potential issues and user experience problems
- Conduct regression testing and validate bug fixes
- Test across multiple browsers, devices, and operating systems
Quality Assurance- Identify, document, and track software defects through resolution
- Collaborate with development teams to reproduce and resolve issues
- Perform root cause analysis on quality issues
- Validate that software meets functional and non-functional requirements
Cross-functional Collaboration- Work closely with Product Management to understand acceptance criteria and user stories
- Partner with developers to ensure quality practices are integrated throughout the development process
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Communicate testing progress and quality metrics to stakeholders
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance
- Strong expertise in test automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar)
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.)
- Experience with API testing and tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Experience with bug tracking and test management tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with performance and load testing tools (JMeter, K6, LoadRunner)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker)
- Experience with mobile application testing (iOS/Android)
- Understanding of database testing and SQL
- Knowledge of security testing principles
- ISTQB certification or similar quality assurance credentials
- Experience in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment
