Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Business and Data Analyst for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY.

Looking for a Business and Data Analyst to join the The Non-Financial Risk Technology (NFRT) team. We provide IT support to the firm Non-Financial Risk organization. The Financial Crimes Technology department (FCT) is part of the NFRT organization that among other things is responsible for the support of the Firm's Anti Money Laundering (AML), Enterprise Client Risk Ranking (ECRR), Single Client View (SCV), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) Sanction Screening programs, Negative News Screening programs and Risk Assessments. The AML, Sanctions Screening & NNS programs are supported by an application suite that enables surveillance of firm and client activity, customer identification, as well as ensuring the Firm's compliance with various regulatory requirements. The position is on a new department initiative.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into detailed technical specifications
  • Conduct analysis of business requirements and processes for data centric projects
  • Responsible for gathering and writing data requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into data mapping specifications
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the data definitions, domain values, data relationships, business rules, sources, and data integration used in the business domain
  • Troubleshoot data issues and work with data providers for resolution
  • Work with Data Engineers who will implement technical solutions to meet business requirements
  • Support developers with data subject expertise
  • Support phases of project development, from analysis and design to testing and implementation
  • Ensure that technology solutions meet the defined requirements.
  • Understanding of data quality and data governance
  • Provide ongoing support and training to business users on the new or revised systems.
Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modeling
  • Strong SQL query skills
  • Experience with SDLC
  • Strong analytical, profiling and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong knowledge with Big Data/Hadoop platform
  • Strong business analysis and requirements definition skills
  • Strong stakeholder presentation skills
  • Solid organization and planning skills
  • At least 7 years' financial industry technology experience and knowledge of financial services data
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with Agile project delivery
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python)
