ASSYST is seeking an experienced Oracle Technical Specialist to support a critical enterprise application upgrade and re-platforming initiative. This role focuses on modernizing a complex, Oracle-based system that operates in a 24x7 production environment and supports multiple internal and external departments.
The consultant will play a key role in completing ongoing upgrade efforts across database, middleware, identity management, and UI components. This is a hands-on technical role, not a DBA position, and will work alongside an established database administration team.
Job Title: Oracle Technical Specialist Location: Rockville, MD (Hybrid - 3days onsite & 2 days remote)
Key Responsibilities:
- Support re-platforming and upgrade of a multi-tier Oracle-based enterprise system
- Assist with upgrading Oracle Database environments from legacy versions to modern supported releases
- Perform middleware upgrades involving Oracle Application Server, WebLogic, and Oracle Internet Directory
- Upgrade and modernize Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports applications
- Support UI modernization efforts, including removal of legacy Java applet dependencies
- Re-sign application JAR files using enterprise security certificates
- Assist with Linux platform migration activities and related shell scripting
- Support enterprise identity management and Single Sign-On integrations
- Work within a dedicated host and development environment supporting continuous system availability
Required Technical Expertise:
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database versions 11g, 12c, and 19c
- Extensive experience with Oracle Middleware, including:
- Oracle Application Server (10g)
- Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 10g and 12c
- Proven experience with WebLogic Server 11 and 12
- Solid experience upgrading Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports (10g to 12c)
- Strong Linux experience, including shell scripting
- Working knowledge of Oracle Single Sign-On (SSO) and enterprise identity solutions
- Experience supporting complex, high-availability enterprise systems
