Title: Client Technologies Technician (ONLY W2)
Duration: 12 Months (Possibility of extension)
Location: Columbia, SC 29201 (Onsite from Day 1)
Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Client Technologies Technician to provide technical support under general supervision of IT management and regional technical teams. The role involves assisting internal users with setup, installation, maintenance, and usage of desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, monitors, application software, LAN connectivity, and associated equipment within the headquarters facility. The technician will manage endpoint deployments using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and ensure compliance with system build and asset management procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Responsibilities
- Build desktops, laptops, and tablets using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
- Verify BitLocker encryption keys are stored in Active Directory and Intune.
- Ensure MECM client installation during device build processes.
- Maintain endpoint connectivity to the network for a minimum of 2.5 hours post-build.
- Confirm installation of all required software listed on device build sheets.
- Document all assigned assets including desktops, laptops, tablets, docking stations, monitors, printers, scanners, and related equipment in the IT asset management system.
- Diagnose and resolve endpoint hardware and software issues reported by users and record activity in the Help Desk ticketing system.
- Perform routine maintenance and equipment repairs or coordinate vendor support when needed.
- Assist with removal and disposal of obsolete equipment following established disposal procedures and salvage usable components when applicable.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Monthly Responsibilities
- Connect backup tablets to the network via patch cable to receive Patch Tuesday updates.
- Power on tablets on the second Friday of each month and maintain network connection until 12 PM the following Wednesday.
- Log in using the local account before shutting down tablets on Wednesday.
- Power on all iPads using proper charging equipment for the same update cycle duration.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
Required Skills
- 4+ years of experience in desktop and networked systems support
- 4+ years of experience in computer deployments, operation, and repair
- 4+ years of experience in hardware and software installation
- 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)
Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory)
- Experience working with a Help Desk ticketing system
- Experience with enterprise network environments
- Experience with Active Directory or Intune
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (May substitute for required work experience)
