Key Responsibilities
Data Modeling & Architecture
Design and maintain semantic models including star schemas, facts, and dimensions.
Apply best practices for relationships, hierarchies, and calculation groups.
Optimize models for performance and scalability.
Data Integration & Transformation
Work with Data Engineers to align models with upstream pipelines and transformation logic.
Validate data quality and ensure accurate business representation within models.
Support ELT/ETL alignment across Fabric components.
Analytics & Reporting Enablement
Build DAX calculations, KPIs, and metrics for analytics and reporting solutions.
Partner with BI and reporting teams to ensure models meet business requirements.
Cross Functional Collaboration
Align modeling approaches with platform architecture and governance standards.
Participate in multi disciplinary teams (Engineering, Architecture, Governance, Analytics).
Quality, Governance & Documentation
Maintain clear documentation for model definitions, lineage, and business rules.
Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and role based access controls.
Must Have Technical Skills
Advanced Power BI semantic modeling and DAX expertise.
Strong understanding of dimensional modeling (facts, dimensions, hierarchies).
Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric components, including:
Lakehouse
Fabric Data Warehouse
Data Factory Pipelines
Synapse Data Engineering (Spark notebooks, job definitions)
Strong SQL skills and experience optimizing large analytical datasets.
Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data models.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building enterprise scale BI models in complex environments.
Hands on experience with end to end Microsoft Fabric solutions (ingestion through visualization).
Knowledge of governance frameworks, metadata management, and self service BI enablement.
Experience collaborating in multi role analytics teams (Architects, Engineers, Analysts).
Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)
Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
