· Lead architect responsible for segment of business or Company-wide aspect of architecture. Team composition JG3 and below, or responsible for complex solution architectures. Responsible for E2E technical design (integration, hosting security etc) for a project or IT product.
· Diagnoses and solves significant, complex and non-routine problems; translates practices from elsewhere (other markets, countries and industry) and provides authoritative, technical recommendations which have a significant impact on business performance in short and medium term; authors company standards and procedures.
Actively identifies new approaches that enhance and simplify where possible Company’s complex IT Architecture. Represents the Company as the authority in the defined area and acts as a role model to develop experts within this area. Empowered to make decisions on solutions within guidelines or slightly beyond - can sign off exceptions within reason.
The solutions architect is joining a greenfield programme (already underway) as part of a bigger transformation piece- to create a new Claims Management System for Crude products. This will sit within the trading systems and integrate with ETRM systems.
The next step is integration with the systems landscape. The Phase 1 will be a manual test on a smaller scale and then Phase 2 with be the automation piece.

Strong preference for someone with a solid technology background and can showcase experience of having excellent communication within a complex matrix of teams such as Shell.
Client will question in Depth to a ‘point that get a little uncomfortable’ to establish what this person has been responsible for delivering themselves (must have done the job).
Preference for anyone that comes from a Commodities trading background- whether it be from energy, hedge funds or Investment Banking as they will have the relevant trading knowledge.
