Job#: 3048816 Job Description: Azure Application Developer
Location: Chicago, Illinois (Partial Remote)
Role Overview
We are seeking a backend-focused Azure Application Developer to assist in completing an Azure-based evidence platform. This role emphasizes hands-on application development, including building APIs, writing functions, managing database interactions, and implementing third-party integrations. The ideal candidate has experience developing and designing Azure applications, not primarily deploying or monitoring them. The project involves building a cloud-native, immutable evidencing platform designed to ingest compliance artifacts and audit evidence from various internal tools via API.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and design Azure applications with a heavy focus on backend and application logic.
- Build and optimize APIs and functions using Azure services.
- Implement integrations with databases, third-party systems, and other services.
- Design and implement API ingestion pipelines via Azure API Management (APIM), including validation, rate limiting, and schema enforcement.
- Build event-driven ingestion workflows using Azure Service Bus and Azure Functions.
- Implement immutable artifact storage using Azure Blob Storage and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Integrate Azure Key Vault for envelope encryption of stored artifacts.
- Write Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for all infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years building production workloads on Azure with demonstrated experience in event-driven and API-first architectures. Strong Azure application development experience is required. Experience with immutable/append-only storage patterns is necessary.
Technical Skills: Strong experience with Azure Functions, Azure Storage Accounts, Azure Service Bus, Azure Key Vault, and Terraform. Ability to read and write code in Node.js and Python. A strong understanding of Azure application architecture and design, including how services work together and designing integrations between components, is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Desired certifications such as Azure Security Engineer Associate, AWS-Certified Security - Specialty, CISSP, and CCSP.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Security and compliance experience in a regulated environment is considered a bonus.
