Description
Martin/Martin, Inc. is looking for a structural Engineer-in-Training I or II to join our Structural Engineering Group in our Larkspur, California office. This engineer will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of project types with many different structural materials. This position will provide opportunities to gain experience in both new building structural design and existing building investigations and retrofits.
A typical work week can include engineering calculations, drawing development, Construction Administration tasks, and site visits. This position allows for interactions with owners, architects, and contractors early in your career as you build relationships throughout the project life cycle. While many of our projects are located in California, Martin/Martin's national footprint provides opportunities to work on projects around the country, with strong collaboration with our headquarters office in Lakewood, Colorado.

The TeamsOur structural engineering teams provide custom solutions for new constructions and expansions both in California and nationally, with a strong record in notable projects like Coors Field, the SLAC Science and User Support Building , the California State Legislative Office Building , and Topgolf .
Responsibilities- Utilize computer design and graphics software to complete project Construction Documents.
- Study and apply building code, material code and/or jurisdictional requirements to complete project design calculations under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Assist Project Manager in Construction Administration, including checking of submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting field observations.
- Communicate and coordinate project design with clients, other team consultants, and contractors.
Requirements
Required- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an engineering curriculum in Architectural, Civil, Structural, or related engineering field.
- Has passed FE Examination
- 0-4 years' experience
- Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Ability to work in the Larkspur, CA area. Relocation reimbursement may be provided, depending on the role and job function.
Desired- Master's degree in engineering from an engineering curriculum in Architectural, Civil, Structural, or related engineering field.
- Bachelor's degree received from an institution with ABET accreditation in field of study.
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Working knowledge of building and material design codes
- Experience using computer design and graphics software for building structural design and documentation (AutoDesk REVIT, RAM, SAP, ETABS, RISA, etc.)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to client service and a team-based approach
- Construction field experience
- Experience programming in Grasshopper, Python, Dynamo, SQL, C#, C++, VBA
Working Conditions, Skills, and AbilitiesThis position is primarily physical in nature and is continually exposed to outside weather, completing a wide range of activities summarized herein. The following abilities are required:
- Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
- Walk, kneel, crawl, stoop, bend, and remain stationary for long periods of time
- Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
- Identify color
- Read, communicate, and document in English
- Determine and exchange accurate information
- Move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
CompensationThe wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
- Base Salary: For individuals hired in California, a reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $93,000 to $98,500 annually.
- Accrued Time: This is a salaried position with accrued time eligibility. Accrued time allows additional compensation or time-off to be earned for any eligible hours worked exceeding 40 hours per week.
- Base Salary Review: This role is eligible to participate in Martin/Martin's annual base salary increase review process.
- Annual Bonus: This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary annual bonus program.
Base salary review and increases, in addition to annual bonuses, are dependent on various factors, including a hired individual's job-level and annual company performance.
