🔹 Role Overview
Looking for an experienced engineer to design, develop, and integrate software for next-generation optical network elements, Optical Line Systems, optical pluggables, and coherent optical systems.
The role involves embedded software, Device/Hardware Abstraction Layers, hardware interfaces, optical line-system control, pluggable management, telemetry, management-plane interfaces, and optical-domain software integration.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
• Develop embedded/system software using C/C++; C is key for OLS software development
• MATLAB exposure for modeling/analysis is an advantage
• Build DAL/HAL components for I2C, SPI, MDIO, EEPROM, sensors, pluggables, and optical components
• Develop EDFA/Raman amplifier control, gain control, APC, A power balancing, alarms, safety shutdown, and protection logic
• Support ROADM, WSS, DWDM, spectrum allocation, path computation, flexgrid provisioning, and real-time reconfiguration
• Develop optical pluggable software for CMIS/SFF, DDM/DOM, module state handling, firmware upgrades, and power-class management
• Support optical topology modeling, impairment-aware routing, and optical power management
• Work with coherent optical technologies including QPSK, DP-QPSK, BPSK, QAM, BER, FEC, baud rate, and spectral efficiency
• Validate optical performance using lab equipment such as Optical Spectrum Analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, VOAs, optical switches, wave shapers, tunable lasers, and traffic generators
🔹 Must-Have Skills
✅ C/C++ and embedded/system software development
✅ Embedded Linux, drivers, firmware, DAL/HAL
✅ I2C, SPI, MDIO, EEPROM and relevant hardware interfaces
✅ Optical Line System OR Optical Pluggable experience – MANDATORY
✅ DWDM, fiber effects, OSNR, dispersion, nonlinearities, EDFA, Raman, ROADM/WSS
✅ SFP/SFP+/SFP28, QSFP28, QSFP-DD, OSFP, ZR/ZR+, CMIS/SFF, DOM/DDM
✅ Understanding of optical modulation techniques and coherent optics
✅ Experience with telecom, networking, NE software, firmware, or embedded systems
🔹 Nice to Have
• PID, APC, A power balancing and protection switching
• Path computation and optical algorithms
• Python / pytest automation
• Optical lab/test automation experience
🔹 Minimum Qualifications
🎓 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Photonics, Optics, Applied Physics, or related field.
💼 5+ years for Engineer-level roles / 8+ years for Senior-level roles in embedded software, telecom software, network-element software, firmware, or Linux drivers.
🔑 Hands-on experience in at least two core technical areas, including programming/system software, Linux/device interfaces, hardware protocols, Optical Line Systems, or Optical Pluggables.
⚠️ Optical Domain Gate: Candidates MUST have experience in either Optical Line Systems OR Optical Pluggables. Candidates without either experience will not qualify.
