Beat the Interview Bot: How to Increase Your Chances of Success in an AI Interview
If you are actively searching for a new job, statistics show that you are very likely to encounter an interview with an AI chatbot, especially during the early stages of the hiring process. That’s because AI’s influence is starting to move beyond resume reviews and rudimentary analysis of a candidate’s tone or body language during video interviews. Tips for Landing an “Entry-Level” Job that Requires Experience
While the term "entry-level" typically refers to jobs that require little to no actual work experience, recent analyses from LinkedIn and The Wall Street Journal found that a significant percentage of postings for jobs described as entry-level require at least three years of experience. In fact, companies are increasingly requiring prior experience, hybrid skillsets or even advanced degrees for roles in software development, UX or data analytics that were traditionally reserved for professionals looking to begin their careers. What’s going on? While employers may state that they require experience for an entry-level job, don’t let that stop you. Here are some tips for landing a so-called “entry-level” job in tech that requir

Improving Your Chances at a Job Interview
I was recently given the joyful task of recruiting a developer to our team. “It’ll be easy,” I was told: just ask the HR department to put the word out to a few recruitment agents, they’ll send you a few CVs, and you get to pick who to interview. A few CVs? Two weeks later there were 120. I read each and somehow winnowed them down to nine interviews. Interestingly, the same CV came from two different agencies. In the subsequent job interview, I gave every candidate a technical test for the programming language we used in our tech stack. From those nine interviews, I realized three candidates were probably better at a career writing fiction, given the gap between their actual skills and what they listed on their CV. Everything cam

Mastering the Art of Selling Yourself in an Interview
If you believe your technical skills and experience are enough to win over an interviewer, you may find yourself facing frequent rejections during a job search. With more than 173 million job applications sent out in the first six months of 2024, landing your dream job takes more than expertise—you need to be able to sell yourself to a potential employer. Yes, the word “sales” can have negative connotations. So to clarify, think of “selling yourself” as separating yourself from others with similar skills by effectively demonstrating why your ideas, value and cultural alignment make you the best candidate for a particular role. “The reality is that the minute you become a job seeker, you become a marketer,” noted Amanda Augustine, career expert at Career.io and TopResume.
