Salary Range: $87,600 - $109,500

Job Summary

The Specialist Infrastructure (Data Center) is a Data Center Technician role for data center locations in the Orange, CT region. Candidates will possess a minimum of 2 years of experience with enterprise-grade computing hardware and preferably previous experience working in enterprise data centers. The main objectives are safety, quality, and timeliness of assigned activities including equipment receipt, inventory, rack and stack, change tickets, data center monitoring, and troubleshooting on behalf of the Affiliates of AVANGRID Networks located in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely responses to all incidents, tasks, and requests assigned to meet Service Level Agreements.
  • Perform data center site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) systems and technical equipment, including escalating tickets for service and maintenance.
  • Installation of server racks, PDUs, servers, switches, storage, appliances, etc. including racking, stacking, labeling, cabling, initial configuration, and documentation.
  • Maintain spare parts, cables, and equipment inventories and tracking.
  • Maintain organized and clean inventory, storage, and datacenter spaces.
  • Oversee third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with Avangrid's processes, procedures, and all applicable laws/regulations.
  • Escort and monitor third-party vendors lacking unescorted access when performing work on Avangrid sites.
  • Provide maintenance and break-fix of infrastructure technologies following the change management process.
  • Participate in technical implementation plans in support of infrastructure technologies.
  • Work with internal clients, suppliers/contractors, project teams, and other technical staff to identify, design, and support technical solutions.
  • Participates in the evaluation, selection, and testing of hardware and software products.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance under NERC/CIP guidelines.
  • Maintain high quality security controls surrounding the critical SCADA systems.
  • Perform special assignments from OSG Infrastructure leadership.
  • Provide first shift weekday on-site support.
  • Available for 24x7 rotational on call support.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Travel as required within the US.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: BS/BA Degree in Business, Computer Science, or other technical discipline. Will consider additional years of relevant experience and/or related technical certifications in lieu of degree requirement (in accordance with the FLSA Computer Professionals Exemption).
  • Full professional proficiency in English language (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Data Center terminology and standards including ability to recognize different kinds of cables, connectors, SFPs, etc.
  • Understanding of Security, computer hardware, software applications and data communication equipment.
    • Network diagrams, firewall rules, ports, and services
  • Understanding of relevant Compliance Regulations and Policies. (NERC-CIP, Etc.)
    • Working understanding of the NERC-CIP requirements.
