Job#: 3030099 Job Description: Job DescriptionAs a software developer you are responsible for development, debugging, and enhancing of a web-based application coded in ColdFusion with an Oracle back-end for our DoD Financial Management System used by several Army Commands and other Government Agencies.
In conjunction with the development team, you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of ColdFusion code base (and potential more advanced versions in other languages i.e. Java, .Net), internal unit testing, bug fixing and enhancements to the existing web-application software.
Responsibilities:- Assists in writing code and coordinating efforts for the team to create single-threaded or user interface event driven applications. Helps to lead and develop code necessary to complete the assigned project(s) in the specified time frame according to departmental standards and guidelines.
- Assists in writing, modifying, and debugging software for client applications, while also reviewing other team members work and tasking. Writes programs according to specifications from customer requirements and coordinates with other internal team members.
- Assists in the development of the critical components of the solution, including but not limited to, security, rules infrastructure, custom adapter implementation, and application interfaces.
- Works with technical staff to understand and makes suggestions to resolve software problems. Profiles, analyzes and optimizes the software he/she is responsible for implementing with assistance from technical leads.
- Employs best practices for design, development, unit testing and test plan development.
- Seeks to improve personal job-related knowledge and departmental process by studying the development tools used, programming techniques, and computing equipment, participating in educational opportunities, and reading professional publications.
Required Skills:- Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and 4+ years of related development work experience.
- Must have an active Secret clearance (or higher)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe ColdFusion programming language (or other similar language) with Oracle database.
- Demonstrated knowledge of web-application support language to include J2EE, JavaScript, SQL, CSS, HTML, etc.
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
Desired Skills:- Strong communication and team interfacing skills.
- Ability to lead and coordinate activities for the team with the desire to advance to a technical subject matter expert (SME) or development lead/manager.
- Demonstrated understanding of the SDLC process; including all aspects of requirements, development, and working closely with testers.
- Familiarity with development of a web-based system using remote tools for applications using VM/Cloud technologies or AWS hosting solutions.
- Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process in Information Assurance and willingness to work closely with team's Information Officer for security updates.
- Familiarity with the DOD Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.
