Role Overview

We are seeking a Principal-level Oracle Database Engineer with deep expertise in Oracle Exadata and large-scale database migrations. This is not a typical DBA role—this position requires an architect-level professional with extensive hands-on experience across both infrastructure and application layers.

The primary focus of this role is to lead and support the migration of Oracle Exadata environments from on-premises to Azure, ensuring seamless transition, performance optimization, and production stability.

Candidates must have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with DBAs, infrastructure teams, and application developers throughout the migration lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

·         Lead Oracle database migration initiatives from on-prem/VM environments to Exadata on Azure

·         Plan and execute migration strategies including cutover, validation, and post-migration support

·         Administer and manage Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c+) in enterprise environments

·         Work extensively with Exadata architecture, performance tuning, and HA/DR concepts

·         Support RAC, ASM, Data Guard, backup/recovery, and patching activities

·         Collaborate with application teams to validate connectivity and performance post-migration

·         Troubleshoot database, connectivity, and application-level issues

·         Coordinate with cross-functional teams during migration events and production support

·         Ensure adherence to change management, monitoring, and validation processes

Required Skills

·         Expert-level experience with Oracle Database (all aspects)

·         Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata

·         Proven experience in Oracle database migrations to Azure (must-have)

·         Expertise in RAC, ASM, Data Guard, backup/recovery, and performance tuning

·         Experience upgrading databases to Oracle 19c or higher

·         Strong knowledge of DNS, networking, and Oracle client connectivity (JDBC, ODP.NET, OCI, TNS)

·         Ability to work across backend (DB migration) and frontend/application connectivity layers

·         Experience supporting enterprise applications integrated with Oracle

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience with Oracle Exadata on Azure (Database@Azure)

·         Exposure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Exadata

·         Knowledge of additional databases like DB2, MS SQL Server

·         Familiarity with enterprise tools, monitoring, and performance baselining

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)

·         Strong experience in database migration, CI/CD, and enterprise data environments

·         Excellent communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

·         Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
