The Software Engineer 2 will support data engineering initiatives by designing and developing ETL/ELT pipelines, implementing data models, and building data workflows across batch and real-time environments. This role requires proficiency with Airflow, PySpark, and cloud-native data solutions, with a strong focus on scalable, reliable, and governed data pipelines. The engineer will collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with modern data architectures, optimize data structures for analytics, and support centralized governance using Dataplex and Delta Lake.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Design and build ETL/ELT workflows and data pipelines for batch and real-time processing
Develop and maintain pipelines for downstream applications using open-source and cloud technologies
Implement operational and analytical data stores leveraging Delta Lake and modern database concepts
Optimize data structures for performance, scalability, and reliability across large datasets
Collaborate with architects and engineers to align with target-state data architectures
Apply best practices around data governance, lineage, and metadata management using Google Dataplex
Build, schedule, and orchestrate workflows in Apache Airflow, including authoring complex DAGs
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues related to data processing and pipeline reliability
Support continuous improvement of data engineering processes and standards
