Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with 10+ years of experience in designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and mainframe batch processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.

  • Develop and optimize batch jobs, online transactions, and application programs.

  • Write complex SQL queries and perform database operations using DB2.

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.

  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and code reviews.

  • Support application enhancements, system upgrades, and legacy modernization initiatives.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, architects, and cross-functional development teams.

  • Prepare technical documentation and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in mainframe development.

  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.

  • Experience with VSAM, TSO/ISPF, and mainframe utilities.

  • Knowledge of mainframe batch processing, scheduling, and production support.

  • Experience with SQL queries, database performance tuning, and debugging.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Endevor, Changeman, or equivalent version-control and release-management tools.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in banking, financial services, insurance, or other enterprise domains.

  • Knowledge of mainframe application modernization and integration with distributed systems.

  • Experience with performance optimization, incident management, and production deployments.
