About the Role

As a Software Engineer in this contingent assignment, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of data-driven systems. You will work on moderately complex engineering initiatives, assess technical challenges, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep technical expertise in database engineering, and the ability to work within established engineering standards, compliance requirements, and Agile practices.
What You'll Do
Database Engineering

• Design, develop, and optimize advanced database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
• Build complex T-SQL/PL-SQL stored procedures, functions, and data models.
• Implement indexing strategies, performance tuning, and query optimization for large, high-volume datasets.

Data Integration & ETL Engineering

• Develop and maintain reliable data pipelines using tools such as SSIS or Oracle-based ETL frameworks.
• Implement data quality checks, reconciliation processes, and warehouse models (star and snowflake).
• Support analytics, reporting, and downstream system needs through scalable data integration.

Power BI Engineering

• Design and build robust Power BI data models, dashboards, and enterprise-grade reports.
• Develop optimized DAX expressions, Power Query (M scripts), and enforce row-level security.
• Ensure performance optimization across SQL Server and Oracle data sources.

Collaboration & Agile Delivery

• Work closely with cross-functional scrum teams, contributing to sprint ceremonies and collaborative planning.
• Apply Agile principles, support continuous improvement, and help deliver high-quality solutions aligned to business and customer needs.

Additional Skills (Preferred)
AI & Machine Learning Enablement

• Operationalize ML models within data platforms, including feature engineering, scoring pipelines, and model integration (Python, R, or cloud ML services).
• Build predictive dashboards for forecasting, anomaly detection, and insight generation with proper governance and monitoring.

Database & Application Modernization

• Support migration of legacy systems to cloud or hybrid platforms.
• Refactor schemas, update ETL processes, validate data parity, and execute low-downtime cutovers.
• Ensure operational readiness and modernization best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience gained through a combination of:

  • military background
  • formal education
