Summary

UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced WebSphere Administrator with at least 5 years of IBM WebSphere Administration experience for a onsite role in New York, NY to support the production maintenance and phased implementation of enterprise HR, Benefits, Timekeeping, and Payroll systems. This is a permanent full-time opportunity open to candidates able to work for our company directly.

The WebSphere Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of critical middleware infrastructure, including IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ, and Cognos.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering; OR
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering; OR
  • A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to one of the qualification requirements above.
  • 5+ years of Middleware Administration experience, specifically supporting IBM WebSphere Application Server Traditional (tWAS) and WebSphere Liberty on Linux- or UNIX-based platforms.
  • Experience managing WebSphere Liberty server configurations, including server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options.
  • Experience using Git for source control and configuration management.
  • Experience using Ansible for middleware administration, automation, configuration management, and application deployments.
  • Experience with Jenkins, CloudBees, or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Experience with Configuration as Code and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience administering associated middleware technologies such as IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle WebLogic, and Cognos.
  • Experience performing middleware application upgrades and patch installations.
  • Experience understanding, troubleshooting, and debugging Java-related errors.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and experience working with SQL.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide, large-scale technology environments.
  • Ability to perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of technical problems and production issues.
  • Ability to support a 24x7 production environment and work nights and/or weekends when required.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple assignments according to established schedules and project deadlines.
  • Ability to provide timely and accurate status updates when required.
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications, technologies, and environments and resolve associated issues.
  • Ability to clearly document and explain the symptoms, root causes, and solutions associated with complex technical problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and across technical groups.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to independently research issues and identify solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • Provide technical administration and support for enterprise middleware infrastructure supporting critical citywide HR, Benefits, Timekeeping, and Payroll applications.
  • Install, configure, maintain, administer, and troubleshoot middleware infrastructure, including IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ, and Cognos.
  • Support ongoing production maintenance activities and phased rollout implementations of enterprise HR and Payroll system functionality.
  • Serve as one of the technical administrators responsible for middleware platforms and associated infrastructure.
  • Administer and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server Traditional and WebSphere Liberty environments running on Linux- and UNIX-based platforms.
  • Maintain WebSphere Liberty server configurations and associated middleware configuration files.
  • Support middleware application upgrades, software updates, and patch installations.
  • Use automation and configuration-management technologies to support middleware administration, application configuration, and deployments.
  • Support CI/CD processes and DevOps-related middleware activities.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve middleware, Java, database connectivity, application, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis for production and technical issues and document identified symptoms, causes, and resolutions.
  • Support associated middleware technologies, including IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle WebLogic, and Cognos.
  • Work collaboratively with application development, infrastructure, database, operations, and other technical teams.
  • Independently manage and prioritize assigned technical responsibilities to meet established project schedules and deadlines.
  • Provide technical documentation, status updates, issue resolution information, and other required project communications.
  • Support production systems outside standard business hours, including nights and weekends, when required.
