Job Description
Responsibilities
Provides senior hands-on technical expertise supporting the assessment, planning, design, migration, validation, and stabilization of MHS's SQL Server environment. Responsible for target-state architecture, database migration strategy and execution, data validation, performance considerations, security architecture, reporting migration, integration dependencies, and technical troubleshooting.
Supports migration of databases and associated dependencies, including SSRS reporting, Linked Servers, IIS-hosted application connectivity, authentication configurations, and external integrations. Participates in testing, cutover, rollback readiness, production validation, and post-migration stabilization.
Assesses technical debt and contributes recommendations for database organization, standardization, maintainability, documentation, and future-state architecture during roadmap development.
Required Qualifications
- SQL Server architecture, administration, upgrade, and migration
- Hands-on database migration and modernization
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) migration and validation
- Linked Server configuration and migration
- Application/database connectivity and dependency analysis
- Performance tuning and optimization
- Data integration architecture
- Windows and SQL authentication and security configuration
- Backup, recovery, rollback, and migration validation
- Production cutover and post-migration troubleshooting
- Technical documentation and knowledge transfer
Preferred Skills
- SQL Server 2025 migration experience
