Role: Mainframe Developer
Location: Omaha, NE (Onsite – 5 days a week)
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer with strong experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM to support the development, enhancement, maintenance, and production support of enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in both online and batch JCL, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and a strong focus on delivering high-quality, zero-defect solutions. This role also requires the ability to conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and work effectively in an Agile environment. The candidate is expected to work onsite in UPC.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
Work extensively on both online and batch processing systems.
Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
Perform unit testing, support system testing, resolve defects, and provide production support.
Troubleshoot application and database issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent fixes.
Use strong analytical skills to resolve complex technical problems.
Work in an Agile development environment and participate in sprint ceremonies.
Use JIRA to manage tasks, defects, and development activities.
Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Mentor junior developers and support the team in delivering high-quality outcomes.
Maintain a strong focus on first-time-right delivery and zero defects in production.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
Required Skills
Required 7 years of experience with Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
Strong expertise in both online and batch JCL.
Very good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong database knowledge and experience.
Understanding of Java programming.
Experience using JIRA for work management.
Knowledge of Agile development methodology.
Ability to perform code reviews and mentor junior developers.
Very good communication skills.
Strong quality mindset with experience delivering high-quality, low-defect solutions.
Good to Have
Experience with IBM Debugger.
Familiarity with GitHub.
