Description
This client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cable Technician with experience supporting Internet Service Provider (ISP) environments and Data Center operations. This role is responsible for the installation, patching, testing, labeling, documentation, maintenance, and decommissioning of structured cabling and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience working in live network environments, data centers, carrier facilities, and telecommunications infrastructures while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring reliable network connectivity through accurate cable management, documentation, and infrastructure deployment.
Installation & Infrastructure Deployment
Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
Perform rack-and-stack activities including mounting network equipment, servers, switches, routers, and supporting hardware.
Install cable pathways, ladder racks, fiber raceways, cable trays, and conduit systems.
Support ISP backbone, access network, and data center infrastructure deployments.
Patching & Connectivity Management
Perform copper and fiber patching activities in data centers, telecommunications rooms, and network hubs.
Troubleshoot connectivity issues and identify faulty cabling or hardware components.
Verify proper signal integrity and connectivity through testing equipment.
Coordinate patching activities during maintenance windows and network migrations.
Decommissioning & Asset Removal
Execute structured decommissioning of network equipment and cabling.
Remove abandoned cables in accordance with customer and industry standards.
Maintain cable pathway integrity and optimize rack space utilization.
Support equipment refreshes, migrations, and technology upgrades.
Documentation & Reporting
Create and maintain accurate cable records, labeling schemes, rack elevations, and as-built documentation.
Update cable databases, spreadsheets, and asset management systems.
Document MACs (Moves, Adds, and Changes) activities.
Ensure all work performed is recorded and reported accurately for customer and project records.
Testing & Quality Assurance
Test copper and fiber installations using industry-standard certification tools.
Validate compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Identify and resolve installation discrepancies.
Participate in quality inspections and customer walk-throughs.
Safety & Compliance
Follow Miller Electric safety policies and procedures.
Maintain compliance with customer site requirements, data center protocols, and industry standards.
Utilize proper PPE and safe work practices.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Low-voltage electrical experience
MEWP / Lift Certification

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
