Summary

Job: Quality Engineer III – Electrical Engineering

Location: Valencia, CA, San Diego, CA


Role Overview

This role supports post‑market product investigations for electro‑mechanical medical devices. The engineer will work hands‑on in the lab, lead failure analysis activities, develop test methods, and mentor technicians. Strong electrical engineering and RF communication knowledge are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead departmental or cross‑functional engineering initiatives
  • Understand failure modes and approve product analysis for returned and non‑returned electro‑mechanical devices
  • Train, coordinate, and supervise lab technicians performing failure investigations
  • Develop and validate test methods and instructions for new product integration into the CIS lab
  • Create and present SER/CRB slide decks
  • Collaborate with Post Market teams, R&D, Design Assurance, Manufacturing, Supplier Management, and Medical Safety to determine root cause of complaints
  • Monitor product performance and escalate non‑conformance issues
  • Create and release new SOPs/WIs in the document control system
  • Initiate and own non‑conformance investigations
  • Train technicians in root‑cause analysis and sound failure analysis techniques

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated failure analysis and problem‑solving skills for electronic systems/components, including RF communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
  • Willingness to work onsite in San Diego for several months

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 2–3 years of similar experience
  • Ability to understand system‑level functionality and develop/validate test methods
  • Experience in the medical device industry
  • Familiarity with post‑market requirements and systems
