Position Title: Data Quality Analyst / Data Steward

Pay Rate: $45 per hour on W2
Position Description:
Seeking an experienced Data Quality Analyst and Data Steward to establish and scale data governance and quality frameworks in a greenfield, low-maturity data environment. This role involves collaborating with business and IT teams to develop AI-ready data ecosystems, supporting enterprise analytics, BI, and AI/ML initiatives. You will lead efforts to design and implement data validation, profiling, metadata management, and data stewardship practices to drive data quality improvements and adherence to governance standards. This is a full-time, long-term contract position located onsite in Montgomery, AL, with no remote work allowed.
Responsibilities:
- Build and mature data quality and governance capabilities from scratch in a low-maturity environment
- Conduct data audits, profiling, validation, anomaly detection, and quality assessment
- Develop automated data validation rules, stored procedures, and ETL workflows using T-SQL and SSIS
- Troubleshoot and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, data migrations, and related issues
- Document data flows, standards, lineage, and audit findings
- Create dashboards and reports on data quality KPIs using Power BI or Tableau
- Define, maintain, and enforce data standards, business rules, and governance policies
- Manage metadata, data dictionaries, and lineage documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote data quality and ensure compliance
- Train teams on data stewardship practices and data literacy initiatives
- Support long-term evolution of enterprise data strategy and governance maturity
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience with advanced T-SQL, SQL Server development, debugging, and performance tuning
- 6+ years of SSIS development, deployment, and troubleshooting
- Expertise in data profiling, validation rule design, quality scoring, and measurement techniques
- Proven experience with ETL/ELT pipeline design, debugging, and optimization
- Strong data modeling skills (conceptual, logical, physical)
- Metadata management and lineage documentation
- Reporting and dashboarding with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
- Exceptional documentation and communication skills
- Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Master s degree and knowledge of DAMA DMBoK, DCAM, MDM frameworks, GIS data governance
- Experience in low-maturity or greenfield data environments
- Familiarity with AI/ML data readiness and feature store methodologies
- Cloud data engineering exposure (Azure, Databricks, Google Cloud Platform)
- Certifications: DAMA CDMP, EDM Council DCAM, Collibra Data Steward, Cloud/AI certifications (Azure, Databricks, Google)
