Analyst / End-to-End Functional Tester

 Position Overview

The Analyst / End-to-End Functional Tester will support complex business and technology initiatives by analyzing requirements, understanding the functional scope of work, and developing comprehensive test scenarios, test cases, and test data to validate end-to-end system functionality.

This role requires strong critical thinking, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate across Product Owners, business stakeholders, systems analysts, technology teams, and other testing resources. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly understand complex business and technical changes, assess impacts, and translate requirements into meaningful functional test coverage.

Experience with mortgage technology, automated decisioning platforms, data standards such as MISMO, and AI-enabled analysis or testing tools is preferred.

 

Description of Work

  • The Analyst / Functional Tester will be responsible for functional testing activities for application changes, enhancements, and release initiatives. Responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, system impacts, and related documentation to understand the full scope of change.
  • Collaborating with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Developers, Quality Engineering teams, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify gaps, and ensure test coverage aligns with business intent.
  • Developing detailed functional test scenarios and test cases that validate business rules, system behavior, data inputs, processing logic, outputs, and end-to-end workflows.
  • Identifying and preparing test data needed to support complex test scenarios, including positive, negative, boundary, regression, and exception-based testing.
  • Supporting end-to-end testing across integrated systems, ensuring that changes are validated across relevant upstream and downstream processes.
  • Applying critical thinking and analytical skills to determine likely areas of risk, hidden impacts, edge cases, and scenarios that may not be explicitly documented in requirements.
  • Participating in requirement reviews, design discussions, test planning sessions, defect triage meetings, and implementation readiness activities.
  • Executing functional test cases, documenting results, identifying defects, and working with technology and product teams to support defect resolution.
  • Providing clear status updates, risks, issues, and testing progress to leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Supporting regression testing, release validation, and production readiness activities.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of test coverage, testing processes, documentation standards, and quality practices.
  • Leveraging AI tools where appropriate to improve analysis, test scenario generation, data review, documentation, or testing efficiency while maintaining appropriate human validation and judgment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong experience in systems analysis, business analysis, functional testing, quality assurance, or end-to-end testing.
  • Experience working on complex application development, enhancement, modernization, or production support initiatives.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with XML, JSON, APIs is preferred.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, ALM, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Experience creating test strategies, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and test execution documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Agile delivery practices is preferred.
  • General awareness of AI concepts and the ability to use AI-enabled tools responsibly to support analysis, documentation, and testing activities is preferred.

The candidate must be able to understand the scope of change, assess business and system impacts, coordinate with stakeholders, and develop strong functional test coverage that helps ensure high-quality delivery for complex system changes
