Job Role: Workday Tester

Location: Charlotte, NC

Job Description:

Workday Functional & Technical Skills

• Deep expertise in Workday modules such as HCM, Core HR, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Payroll, Benefits, or Financials.
• Strong understanding of Workday business processes, configuration, integrations, and security frameworks.
• Skilled in designing and executing end-to-end testing across Workday releases, tenant builds, and module implementations.
• Experience validating Workday integrations (EIB, Studio, PECI, Core Connectors, SOAP/REST APIs).
• Ability to review Workday configuration to identify defects, gaps, or optimization opportunities.
• Hands-on experience with Workday reporting tools (Advanced Reports, BIRT, Calculated Fields, Worksheets).

Testing Strategy & Execution

• Leads test planning, test strategy development, and creation of detailed test scenarios and scripts.
• Strong proficiency in system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and parallel testing.
• Expertise using test management tools (Jira, HP ALM, qTest).
• Solid understanding of testing Workday biannual releases and managing release validation cycles.
• Ability to develop reusable test libraries and automate test scenarios using tools like Kainos Smart and Octane.
• Strong alignment to best practices across entire testing cycle, including documentation.

Quality Assurance & Risk Management

• Skilled at identifying defects early and performing root-cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of defect lifecycle management and ability to triage defects efficiently.
• Experience driving testing best practices, standards, and quality frameworks.
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear acceptance criteria and test conditions.

CrossFunctional & Leadership Skills

• Collaborates effectively with Workday configuration teams, HR/Payroll SMEs, integration developers, and business owners.
• Leads testing workshops, script walkthroughs, and defect review meetings.
• Provides mentorship to junior testers and oversees workload planning.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including status reporting to senior leadership.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

• Detail-oriented with exceptional ability to identify gaps in processes and system logic.
• Strong analytical capability to validate downstream and upstream system impacts.
• Ability to troubleshoot integration issues across HCM/Payroll/Finance ecosystems.

Additional Technical Skills (Nice to Have)

• Familiarity with API testing tools (Postman, SOAP UI).
• Understanding of Workday Extend applications and VNDLY.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Education:

Bachelor s or Master s degree in computer science or related field.
