This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment. General Job Summary:Designs and analyzes aircraft electrical, mechanical, propulsion, and component structures, systems, and processes.
Essential Job Functions:- Use computer-aided design (CAD) to produce initial design and specifications for aircraft components.
- Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified aircraft system designs.
- Document changes through a formal engineering change notification process.
- Support engine and component test campaigns, including rig testing and full-scale engine tests. Analyze test data.
- Develop and validate design requirements.
- May lead and participate in design reviews, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
- Contribute to technology development, design methodologies, and process improvements to advance turbomachinery capabilities.
- Apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
- May lead a project team, timeline/scheduling, and budget.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility: May mentor junior engineers.
Experience and Skills- Proficiency with CAD software and analysis tools, specifically Siemens NX.
- Strong technical background and sufficient knowledge to perform all phases of hardware design, development, and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, performance, or durability issues during development.
- Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams through all phases of the engineering cycle.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership on design efforts.
- Must be able to work with customers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns, and provide project status.
- Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:- BS/MS in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
- 8+ years of related experience
- Turbomachinery experience a plus
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:- Office and/or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones, rotating wrist, using tools/equipment).
