Summary

Description:
Hybrid 2 in office 3 days remote in Washington, DC

Our client seeks a Cloud DevOps Engineer 2 to lead the enterprise migration of Atlassian Jira and Confluence from Data Center to Atlassian Cloud/Atlassian Government Cloud and to support DevSecOps shared services and AWS infrastructure. The role includes pre-migration assessment, asset mapping, test cycles, cutover execution, post-migration hypercare, and ongoing administration of CI/CD toolchains on Linux-based platforms within AWS. The engineer will collaborate with stakeholders, coordinate Marketplace app vendors, ensure FedRAMP-aligned practices, and enable secure, automated delivery pipelines.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $90.00 to $100.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Lead Atlassian Data Center to Atlassian Cloud/Amigrations, including C2Apre-migration assessments and readiness checks.
  • Inventory and map Jira projects, Confluence spaces, users, permissions, workflows, attachments, automations, Marketplace apps, and custom integrations.
  • Coordinate with Marketplace vendors to validate Acompatibility and define manual migration strategies when required.
  • Plan and execute multiple end-to-end test migration cycles, coordinate UAT, triage defects, and optimize cutover timelines.
  • Author production cutover runbooks, rollback procedures, communication plans, and on-call rotations. Execute zero-data-loss cutovers.
  • Provide post-migration hypercare, remediate broken links and integrations, validate permissions, and transition to steady-state operations.
  • Administer enterprise DevSecOps tools on Linux, including GitHub Enterprise Appliance, CloudBees Jenkins, SonarQube, and JFrog Artifactory.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline configuration, troubleshooting, optimization, and integration of security scanning.
  • Implement security best practices to support ATO, access controls, and blue/green models.
  • Design and maintain AWS infrastructure using IaC with CloudFormation and Terraform across EC2, VPC, Load Balancers, API Gateway, and Lambda.
  • Automate backups, monitoring, logging, and patching using Bash and Python, and apply configuration management.

Experience Requirements:
  • 10+ years of IT experience in application delivery, systems administration, or software engineering.
  • 6+ years implementing DevOps pipelines and administering toolsets in AWS environments.
  • Hands-on Atlassian migrations from Jira/Confluence Data Center to Cloud/Ausing JCMA and CCMA, including Marketplace app path evaluations.
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP Moderate/High, Atlassian Access/Guard, SAML/SSO, and Aarchitecture.
  • Proficiency with CloudBees Jenkins, GitHub Enterprise, SonarQube, JFrog Artifactory, and security scanning tooling.
  • Strong AWS knowledge across EC2, VPC, serverless services, IAM, and CloudFormation.
  • Strong Linux administration with proficiency in Bash and Python scripting and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Ability to support full migration lifecycle from discovery and planning through testing and delivery, with readiness to support broader DevSecOps initiatives post-migration.

Education Requirements:
  • AWS and Atlassian certifications are desirable, such as AWS Developer Associate, AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer Professional, and Atlassian ACP certifications.
