Genesis10 is currently seeking a Unix OS System Engineer for a hybrid position (3 days onsite per week) with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Jersey City, NJ or Plano, TX. This is a contract opportunity. This role is responsible for designing, building, and testing an automated RHEL OS provisioning solution for internal cloud compute environments. The engineer will work hands-on with cloud computing platforms, MS Windows Server, and Linux systems to deliver automated workflows, validate platform integrations, and ensure system reliability using modern automation and testing practices.
Responsibilities: - Design and deliver automated RHEL OS provisioning for on-prem or internal cloud compute environments
- Build maintainable automation tools and workflows using shell scripting and Python
- Integrate OS provisioning with internal cloud services such as virtualization platforms, networking, identity, monitoring, and configuration systems
- Support automated provisioning, validation, and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and CI/CD pipelines
- Focus on continuous testing and reliability, including automated validation, integration testing, and failure troubleshooting
- Collaborate effectively with platform, operations, SRE, and security teams to deliver reliable and scalable automation solutions
Requirements: - 5 years of experience in platform, systems, or infrastructure engineering, with a strong emphasis on automation and integration
- Strong Linux (RHEL) administration expertise, including OS installation, configuration, patching, services, networking, storage, security, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency in shell scripting and Python
- Experience with automation and configuration management platforms (e.g., Ansible or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of Windows Server to support cross-platform workflows and integrations
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and CI/CD pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Linux OS provisioning and internals
Desired skills: - Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform certifications
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ 400)
- CompTIA Security or equivalent security fundamentals certification
Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24 per hour
