Summary

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (Temporary - Up to 12 Months)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for a temporary assignment of up to 12 months. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, SolidWorks CAD, and project management. This role will support ongoing product development initiatives, contribute to design optimization, and lead cross-functional engineering projects from concept through execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead mechanical design using SolidWorks CAD, including 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
  • Develop and optimize mechanical components and systems for performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
  • Partner with electrical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Own project plans, schedules, and deliverables; coordinate resources to execute programs on time.
  • Design and integrate end effectors and tooling for automated and semi-automated systems, including tolerance stack-up and serviceability considerations.
  • Develop automated mechanical interfaces (locating, clamping, docking, quick-change, and alignment features) to enable repeatable, high-throughput operation.
  • Conduct design reviews, tolerance analyses, and FEA simulations as needed.
  • Plan and execute prototype builds and DOE testing to validate designs and develop BKMs (Best Known Methods) for robust performance.
  • Develop and mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and knowledge sharing; help grow team capability and engineering best practices.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation; ensure compliance with applicable standards and internal procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD, including document management systems.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, and team coordination.
  • Experience designing automation tooling such as end effectors and mechanical interfaces for repeatable operation.
  • Hands-on experience planning and executing validation testing, including DOE; able to document and standardize results into BKMs (Best Known Methods).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers while delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in consumer products, industrial equipment, or medical devices.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, DFM/DFA principles, and ISO standards.
  • Experience developing automated mechanical interfaces (docking, locating, clamping, quick-change, and alignment) for automated or semi-automated equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), test planning, and data analysis to drive design decisions and establish repeatable BKMs.
  • Knowledge of simulation tools such as SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS.
  • PMP certification or formal project management training is a plus.

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
