Job Details
The Live Stream Engineering team is looking for a Reliability Support Engineer to support our high-profile live events. Our services power experiences in the Client TV app on Client platforms and 3rd-party TVs.
In this role, you will be a subject matter expert for live content acquisition, broadcast production, and delivery. You will help plan, coordinate, and execute all logistical and technical aspects of live events, managing vendors, equipment, and services to ensure a seamless experience for customers. This role is primarily focused on Live support and metadata, with minimal VOD (Video on Demand) responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Support: Support teams for live streaming services and assist in broadcast transmission check-ins for high-profile events.
- Workflow Management: Setup and maintain live encoding and broadcast workflows.
- Real-Time Troubleshooting: Resolve complex video delivery and live workflow issues under high pressure.
- Integrations: Troubleshoot complex partner and vendor integrations.
- Documentation: Create and execute playbooks, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports, and high-level summaries for outages.
Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of broadcast engineering, live encoding (HLS), and video transport technologies.
- Production Knowledge: Strong understanding of video production, remote production engineering, and broadcast transport.
- Industry Standards: Familiarity with SCTE-35/104 and SCTE-224/ESNI.
- Core Fundamentals: Solid understanding of networking and general live streaming support workflows.
- Soft Skills: Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical & Preferred Requirements
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, use a step stool for rack accessibility, and move equipment racks.
- Nice to Haves: Proficiency in SQL, XML, and general scripting knowledge.
Location & Schedule
- Location: This is an onsite role based at Client's Culver City, CA office.
- Hours: This role follows a four-day, 10-hour shift model.
- Schedule: You should typically expect to work Thursday through Sunday, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends to align with live race coverage.
