A rapidly scaling Canadian technology company operating in the financial services space is seeking a Director of Cybersecurity to lead and evolve its enterprise-wide security strategy. This full-time opportunity is based in Canada (hybrid environment) and centers on safeguarding modern digital platforms, customer data, and internal systems across a growing North American footprint.

This role is ideal for a security leader who enjoys balancing strategic oversight with hands-on execution. You'll play a key role in shaping how security is embedded across the organization, from product development to vendor partnerships, while working closely with senior leadership. Required Skills & Experience

10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT risk, or information security roles
Proven ability to develop or manage security programs in a complex, multi-system environment
Strong understanding of risk identification, control design, and mitigation strategies
Experience working with governance and compliance tools or frameworks
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or similar are highly preferred
Ability to communicate security concepts clearly to both technical teams and executive stakeholders
Background working in regulated environments or industries with strong compliance requirements
Familiarity with audit preparation and coordination processes

Desired Skills & Experience

Experience supporting or leading compliance initiatives tied to industry standards (e.g., SOC frameworks, payment security standards)
Working knowledge of areas such as access control, threat detection, and vulnerability management
Exposure to third-party/vendor risk evaluation and lifecycle management
Experience collaborating with engineering teams to incorporate security into development practices
General awareness of evolving data protection laws and regulatory expectations
Strong problem-solving mindset with an ability to anticipate and address emerging risks
