OverviewA leading national security and defense contractor is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performance engineering team supporting complex ground systems, mission operations, and next-generation technology programs. This role is ideal for someone energized by challenging technical problems, large-scale systems, and mission-critical software development.
You will work within a large, multi-disciplinary software organization responsible for both new capability development and sustainment of existing operational systems across multiple domestic and international sites. This position is on-site within a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and supports programs that directly contribute to national security objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop C++ applications within an agile team environment using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) virtual machines, servers, and workstation environments.
- Design, implement, and unit test new software capabilities derived from algorithmic and mathematical requirements.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects, delivering high-quality updates based on discrepancy reports.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers, subsystem leads, and subject-matter experts across multiple software segments.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5-8 years of experience,
- OR a Master's with 3-6 years,
- OR a PhD with 1-4 years.
- (An additional four years of relevant software experience may substitute for a degree.)
- Active SSBI at the time of application and ability to obtain SCI before starting.
- Strong Object-Oriented Programming skills with proficiency in C++.
- Experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with DevSecOps and automated testing frameworks.
- Additional programming/scripting experience in C, Java, Python, or Perl.
- Strong background in mathematics and algorithm development.
- Familiarity with agile development practices and participation in Scrum teams.
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Git-based workflows.
- Active SCI clearance.
