Role: Senior Network Engineer – L3 Operations

Location: 100% Remote (EST Hours)
Duration: 6+ Month Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join the Global Network Operations team. This role is focused on strengthening network security, remediating vulnerabilities, performing infrastructure upgrades, and expanding operational capacity across enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in advanced routing technologies, network security platforms, automation, and large-scale enterprise network operations. This position requires participation in scheduled maintenance windows, including occasional nights and weekends, to implement critical network changes and upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

Network Operations & Support

· Provide Level 3 operational support for complex network incidents, troubleshooting, and performance-related issues.

· Investigate and resolve network communication problems affecting client connectivity, backbone infrastructure, and overall service availability.

· Support Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Event Management, and Request Fulfillment processes.

Network Engineering & Security

· Design, implement, and support complex enterprise network solutions across multiple environments.

· Lead network vulnerability remediation efforts and security enhancement initiatives.

· Perform firewall code upgrades, policy reviews, audits, and configuration changes.

· Deploy and support secure remote access solutions utilizing Zscaler Private Access (ZPA).

· Participate in network modernization, optimization, and infrastructure upgrade projects.

Capacity Planning & Performance Management

· Analyze network performance and capacity trends.

· Develop recommendations to improve scalability, availability, and operational efficiency.

· Support large-scale network capacity planning and modeling initiatives.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

· Automate network deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting processes using Python.

· Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.

· Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies through automation and standardization.

Required Technical Skills

Routing & Switching

· Expert-level experience with:

o BGP (including route optimization and loop prevention)

o OSPF

o EIGRP

Network Security

· Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) deployment and administration

· Firewall management and upgrades, including:

o Palo Alto Networks

o Cisco Firewalls

o Fortinet Firewalls

· Security policy auditing and implementation

Data Center Networking

· Cisco Nexus 9000 Series (Nexus 9K)

Automation & Scripting

· Strong Python scripting skills for network automation, deployment, and troubleshooting

Additional Qualifications

· Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or managed services environments

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

· Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills

· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced operational environment

Preferred Experience

· Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment experience

· Large-scale global network operations support
