LOCATION Fort Belvoir, VA
SALARY: $132,000-$168,000 (Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experience)
EMPLOYEE TYPE: Full-Time Salary Exempt

Employment in this role is conditional upon successful execution of the contract by the client.

The Work

The SQL Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, security, and performance optimization of mission-critical SQL Server databases supporting government programs and enterprise applications. This role ensures data integrity, high availability, disaster recovery, and compliance with relevant standards.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain high-availability SQL Server databases.
  • Manage installation, configuration, upgrades, and patches.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance.
  • Develop and execute backup and recovery procedures.
  • Enforce security, compliance, and access controls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
  • Support data migration, replication, and integration.
  • Automate maintenance tasks via scripting.
  • Document key database configurations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams.
  • Mentor junior DBA staff.
  • Participate in security audits and compliance reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to adapt to evolving responsibilities as outlined by the client.
  • Eight years of experience in SQL database administration supporting and managing databases in a production environment.
  • Five years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server in High Availability Group configurations.
  • Five years of experience with T-SQL and ability to write scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and views to automate maintenance functions.
  • Three years of experience serving as a team leader working as both part of a team and independently to assign/review immediate tasks, set priorities, maintain task progress, validate team members' work consistent with the organizational goals and deadlines.
  • Three years of experience mentoring junior personnel on proper practices and procedures.
  • Three years of experience planning and implementing security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure in accordance with industry best practices and DISA STIGs.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with SBI and ability to attain SI, TK, G, HCS, and NATO Secret clearance.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MSCA) or SQL Server 2016 or SQL Database Administration Certification; DoD 8140.03 IAT Level II/Intermediate certification
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
