Tekberry is seeking an experienced
Process Engineer II to support our client, a world-class manufacturer of glass and optical products.
Position Summary The Contract Process Engineer II supports manufacturing process qualification, optimization, capacity expansion, and capital projects. This role develops process solutions, analyzes performance data, resolves technical issues, and supports project execution from design through commissioning and closeout.
Working with production, maintenance, quality, R&D, EHS, automation, project management, vendors, and contractors, the engineer improves safety, quality, yield, capacity, reliability, and cost performance.
Key Responsibilities: - Support equipment upgrades, process development/modifications, and continuous-improvement initiatives from design through startup and performance verification.
- Qualify, evaluate, troubleshoot, and optimize manufacturing processes, equipment, workflows, and operating conditions.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, process descriptions, equipment specifications, calculations, reports, and operating procedures.
- Conduct process calculations, equipment-sizing evaluations, capacity studies, process simulations, and statistical data analysis.
- Support process recipe creation, testing, validation, and process integration.
- Partner with project managers to define scope, manage technical risks, track progress, and support schedules, estimates, and corrective actions.
- Participate in design, process-safety, risk, and management-of-change reviews.
- Develop and execute commissioning plans, startup procedures, test protocols, and acceptance criteria.
- Investigate process issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure processes and designs are safe, compliant, operable, and maintainable.
- Identify and implement improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, DOE, 8D, FMEA, and related methodologies.
- Prepare trial summaries and present to upper-level managers and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of process, manufacturing, or project engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with process improvement, equipment upgrades, process development, or manufacturing operations.
- Ability to develop and review process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, and equipment specifications.
- Experience supporting construction, commissioning, startup, production troubleshooting, or field activities.
- Strong data analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to present statistical data to cross functional teams by using software and appropriate tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical-analysis software, such as JMP.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with process-design or project-management tools, such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, MATLAB, Microsoft Project, or Primavera.
- Knowledge of process equipment, instrumentation, automation, PLC, SCADA, DCS, and control systems.
- Familiarity with process-safety methods, including HAZOP, What-If, PHA, LOPA, FMEA, and Management of Change.
- Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, ASME, API, ISA, EPA, GMP, FDA, or ISO.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, PE, or EIT certification.
Work Environment: - Primarily on-site in office, manufacturing, and construction environments.
- Periodic travel to nearby Corning sites (10 - 12 min drive) and occasional off-hours support may be required for project activities, shutdowns, commissioning, or startup.
