Role Summary

We're looking for a Senior Development Engineering Manager to lead the technical vision and execution for the Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) Benefits space. In this role, you'll own the development, operations, and support of our myPBM suite of applications critical tools that power how we deliver value to customers every day.

You'll partner with other technology leaders in the myPBM teams, as well as business stakeholders and product managers, to shape a multi-year roadmap that balances innovation with stability. Your work will ensure that our technology investments directly support enterprise goals, while also driving better outcomes for our members and clients.

This is a role for a hands-on leader who enjoys building strong teams, solving complex challenges, and working across business and technology to bring big ideas to life.

*Role is hybrid in Richardson TX or Buffalo Grove, IL

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of the myPBM Benefits applications portfolio, making sure it's reliable, scalable, and delivering real business impact.
  • Look at how we operate today and find smarter, more efficient, and more innovative ways to do things.
  • Be the go-to person for new development initiatives and provide guidance when challenges come up in existing projects.
  • Set a clear vision and strategy, align your team with company priorities, and inspire them to deliver their best work.
  • Partner with advisors and experts to bring in automation, training, and new skills that strengthen our technology ecosystem.
  • Connect the dots between the customer experience, the backend systems, and the business processes that support them.
  • Build and lead a talented, diverse team creating an environment where people feel motivated, supported, and excited to grow.

Required Qualifications:

7+ years of progressive IT experience, with a strong background in engineering and software development including the following:
  • Proven ability to balance customer and member experience with a drive for automation and innovation, reducing reliance on legacy platforms.
  • Skilled in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business needs, while collaborating effectively with technical teams to deliver solutions.
  • A customer-first mindset, with a passion for building tools, content, and services that directly improve the consumer experience.
  • Strong track record of working collaboratively across teams, consistently delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • 3+ years of hands-on cloud and software development experience in AWS or Azure.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of direct people management experience, including performance reviews, compensation decisions, and leading cross-functional or vendor teams in technical environments.
  • 8+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on engineering and software development.
  • 5+ years of hands-on cloud development in AWS and/or Azure, along with expertise in building applications using Angular and Java Spring frameworks.
  • 5+ years of experience in core infrastructure development and system integration.
  • Solid understanding of source control, build and test automation, with proven experience managing DevOps and SecOps practices.
  • Exposure to multiple cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience designing and implementing microservices architectures and API/web services integrations.
  • A genuine passion for building technology solutions that deliver meaningful business impact.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
