Pay Rate: $50–$55/hr (C2C or W2)

Position overview
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer 3 to support electric transmission and utility infrastructure projects within the Utility Services division.
In this role, you will coordinate with the client, engineering design firms, and internal stakeholders to support engineering design activities from project initiation through completion. The position will ensure that engineering deliverables meet scope, schedule, quality, and compliance standards for large-scale utility projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in engineering design coordination, transmission infrastructure projects, and stakeholder collaboration within utility environments.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Design Oversight

·        Participate in kickoff meetings to determine project scope and engineering requirements.

·        Perform desktop analysis and develop preliminary scopes of work.

·        Request and review proposals from engineering design contractors.

·        Review engineering scopes, schedules, and resource estimates and provide recommendations.

·        Oversee engineering design progress through key milestones (30%, 60%, and 90%).

Engineering Review & Quality Assurance

·        Ensure design work aligns with project scope, schedule, and standards.

·        Conduct quality assurance reviews of engineering deliverables.

·        Perform spot checks of final design packages before submission to Corporate Drawing Management (CDM).

·        Review drawings, calculations, assessments, and Bills of Materials.

Project Monitoring & Reporting

·        Provide bi-weekly project updates using tools such as Smart Turnaround Tool (STT).

·        Maintain project documentation and update project tracking systems.

·        Participate in project coordination meetings with engineering teams and stakeholders.

Procurement & Construction Support

·        Review purchase orders, change orders, and invoices using systems such as Ariba.

·        Provide construction support and coordinate with site representatives to resolve technical issues.

·        Arrange field meetings and job walks for civil, structural, and geotechnical projects.

Compliance & Coordination

·        Coordinate with environmental teams for investigations and regulatory requirements.

·        Support permitting requirements and documentation where applicable.

·        Recommend updates to engineering standards, specifications, and guidelines when needed.

Required Qualifications

·        5–10 years of experience in engineering design or design management for electric transmission or utility infrastructure projects

·        Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

·        Strong understanding of engineering design processes in utility environments

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)

·        Experience coordinating engineering activities with multiple stakeholders and contractors

Preferred Qualifications

·        Professional Engineer (PE) license in California (highly desirable)

·        Experience supporting electric transmission or substation projects

·        Familiarity with engineering project tracking systems used in utilities

·        Knowledge of electrical substation design and infrastructure planning
