Project Overview:

Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met.

Major Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unitor staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications
• Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
• Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
• Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
• When delegated, provides guidance to other mechanical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects
• Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues
• Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
• Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members
• Completes mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
• Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent), with minimum 15 (Fifteen) years of Wet systems experience.
• In depth knowledge of equipment packages such as Chilled water systems comprising chillers with VFD, chilled water pumps, chilled water expansion tanks; Water treatment packages; Condenser / Cooling Tower systems comprising condenser water pumps, sand filter skids and filter pumps; Heating water systems comprising hot water boiler and pumps; and other types of skid mounted pump and tank packages.
• Experience on Liquid cooling systems on Datacenter projects.
• Experience on Dry Systems (HVAC, Cleanrooms, etc.) on Semiconductor and/or Datacenter projects will be an added advantage.
• Good working knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, Section IV - Rules for Construction of Heating Boilers, Section VIII - Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessels, ASME B31.3 Process Piping, API 617 Process Centrifugal Compressors, API 610 Centrifugal Pumps, API 660 Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers, API 661 Air Cooled Heat Exchangers, API 650 Storage Tanks, AWWA Water Tanks and NFPA.
• Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline..
• Thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including construction practices and the economics involved.
• Able to troubleshoot issues in a field or job site setting confidently, and to provide instruction on how to resolve issues identified.
• Experience in writing equipment design specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
