Summary

A Chicago based proprietary trading firm is expanding its engineering team and seeking a Software Engineer with strong C#, C++, and Linux experience. This is a full time role supporting and evolving internal systems used in a live trading environment. Engineers work closely with the business while maintaining high standards for performance, reliability, and maintainability.

This team prioritizes stability, thoughtful engineering, and long term system ownership over rapid churn. The role is ideal for a midlevel engineer who wants to grow into deeper system responsibility, contribute to modernization efforts, and work in an environment where strong performance is rewarded with flexibility and trust. Trading knowledge is helpful, but curiosity and solid engineering fundamentals matter more.

Required Skills & Experience

Professional experience developing in C# and C++
Strong Linux experience in production environments
Familiarity with Bash or other scripting languages
Ability to support, debug, and improve live systems
Experience ramping quickly and contributing independently

Desired Skills & Experience

Background in trading, finance, or fintech environments
Exposure to C# and/or .NET
Experience with system monitoring, tooling, or automation

Tech Breakdown

60% C++ / Linux systems
20% Scripting and automation
20% System modernization and enhancements (including C#)

Daily Responsibilities

70% Hands on development and system work
20% Collaboration with engineers and stakeholders
10% Production support and monitoring
