Position OverviewWe are hiring
Entry-Level Cable Technicians to support the construction and buildout of a large-scale data center. This role is ideal for individuals looking to break into the
telecommunications or data center industry with little to no prior experience.
Technicians will work alongside experienced team leads and senior technicians to help build out the physical cabling infrastructure. Most new hires will begin by
installing cable trays and building server racks, then progress into pulling, terminating, and organizing copper and fiber cabling.
This is a hands-on role in an active construction environment with significant opportunity to learn a skilled trade and advance into higher-level technician or data center roles.
Primary Responsibilities- Pull copper and fiber cabling throughout the data center using fish tape and other methods
- Route, organize, dress, label, and support cabling according to industry standards
- Install cable support systems including:
- Cable trays
- J-hooks
- D-rings
- Bridal rings
- Trapeze systems
- Assist with installation and grounding of:
- Server racks
- Equipment
- Cabling systems
- Perform pre-termination work (measuring slack, labeling, organizing cables)
- Learn and assist with:
- Punch down and termination
- Fiber termination and color codes
- Low-voltage device terminations
- Perform fire-stopping procedures:
- Install sleeves
- Pull cable through sleeves
- Core penetrations through fire walls
- Follow blueprints, drawings, and work orders accurately
- Complete all required documentation:
- Timesheets
- Material transfers
- Work orders
- Tool transfers and change orders
- Adhere to all company, customer, and industry safety and quality standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications- Interest in telecommunications, data centers, or construction trades
- Experience with hand tools (professional or personal projects)
- Ability to follow instructions, prints, and blueprints
- Comfortable working in:
- Construction environments
- Large data centers
- Elevated areas/heights
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and team-oriented mindset
- Flexibility with work hours:
- Willingness to work 10-12 hour days
- Up to 6 days per week when projects fall behind
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with direct communication
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills- Any telecom or low-voltage experience:
- Installing cable trays
- Pulling cable or fiber
- Punch down or termination work
- Prior construction experience
- Experience reading blueprints or technical drawings
Work Environment- Over 2.5 million square feet of active data center construction space
- Large-scale Meta (Facebook) data center - the largest in Richmond, VA
- Active construction site with noise, movement, and occasional high-pressure situations
- Requires physical activity, organization, and situational awareness

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
