Summary

Job Title: IT Network Infrastructure Configuration & Data Specialist

Role Overview
We are seeking a process-driven and technically grounded IT Network Infrastructure Configuration & Data Specialist to serve as the primary operational gatekeeper for our telecommunications and IP network digital records. Working within our IT Operations Tools team, you will act as the principal authority for network planning and design documentation, ensuring that all complex physical connections, active devices, and facility locations are accurately modeled within our central Operations Support System (OSS).
In this role, you will audit engineering and design drafting submissions, enforce strict design-quality metrics, manage network asset relationship mapping, and troubleshoot configuration data gaps. The ideal candidate balances a strong foundational knowledge of telecommunications routing with the meticulous auditing mindset required to ensure data synchronization across enterprise-integrated systems.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Governance, Process Audit & Stewardship
System Gatekeeper: Serve as the primary technical gatekeeper for all network planning and design submissions, rigorously auditing engineering packages for complete accuracy, structural formatting, and data compliance.
Impact Analysis: Analyze circuit and clearance impacts, prepare physical and logical circuits for system updates, process post-clearance changes, and communicate resolution outcomes to engineering leads.
Data Integration Verification: Collaborate closely with network engineers, infrastructure architects, and design drafters to verify that all hardware elements-including connections, ports, functions, jurisdictions, and attributes-are completely synchronized across integrated systems.
Escalation Management: Identify systemic design documentation defects or process bottlenecks, escalating unresolved technical discrepancies directly to Engineering Supervisors when necessary.

Technical Platform Operations & Configuration Management
Asset Relationship Mapping: Build, maintain, and refine complex Configuration Item (CI) relationship views, asset dependencies, and compliance reporting models within the OSS platform.
Best Practices Advisory: Advise multi-disciplinary technical and business teams on configuration management, hardware modeling standards, and data governance best practices.
Discovery & Reconciliation: Assess automated network discovery and reconciliation results, identifying and resolving mismatched configurations to preserve the integrity of the data repository.
System Health Maintenance: Partner with Senior Product Specialists to execute routine system health checks, platform maintenance, patch testing, and tier-1 production support activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training
Design Consulting: Consult directly with telecom engineers to construct logic connection paths directly from technical schematics, physical drawings, and structured data spreadsheets.
Field Support Operations: Coordinate with network specialists to resolve live design issues and assist field telecom technicians with real-time connection or circuit profile updates.
Peer Training & Mentorship: Provide ongoing operational training, documentation playbooks, and platform mentorship to junior operations engineers, technicians, and digital design drafters.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications Technology, Digital Design Drafting, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (equivalent verified professional experience will be fully considered).
Certifications: Active CompTIA Network+ certification is required.
Experience Baseline:
oMinimum of four (4) years of experience supporting and administering enterprise software tools within a Network Operations Center (NOC) or an IT Network & Telecom Operations environment.
oMinimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience working directly with network discovery tracking or modeling data within an Operations Support System (OSS).

Preferred Skills & Competencies
Network Literacy: Solid, foundational knowledge of enterprise telecommunications and IP network technologies (including Microwave transport, IP/Ethernet architectures, SONET, or DWDM ecosystems).
Enterprise Tooling: Previous experience utilizing enterprise ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) and a basic familiarity supporting applications on both Windows and Linux server platforms.
Schematic Reading: Proven capability to read, interpret, and reverse-engineer complex technical telecommunications drawings and physical splicing logs.
ITIL Framework: Strong understanding of the role of automated Asset Discovery within core ITIL configuration management processes.
Protocol Familiarity: Exposure to standard network, security, and data querying protocols (such as SNMP, SSH, Telnet, SOAP, or SQL/JDBC).
Regulated Industry Context: Previous experience working within highly structured utility, energy, or NERC-regulated compliance environments.
