Associate RF Electrical Engineer (Microwave / MW) -- Overland Park, KS

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced RF Engineer with strong Microwave (MW) expertise to support wireless network design, planning, and optimization. This role focuses heavily on MW backhaul design, RF engineering, and wireless infrastructure projects across utility, industrial, and government environments.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Pathloss 6 and Infovista Planet for end-to-end microwave link design and RF analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and optimize Microwave (MW) point-to-point and point-to-multipoint links
• Perform link budget calculations, fading analysis, and path feasibility studies
• Use Pathloss 6 for:
  • Terrain profiling
  • Diffraction analysis
  • Fade margin calculations
  • Link availability modeling
• Conduct MW path surveys including LOS verification and obstacle analysis
• Optimize RF performance for capacity, availability, and interference mitigation
• Work with MW radio platforms (Nokia, Aviat, Ericsson)
• Design and optimize wireless networks using Infovista Planet (LTE/5G, LMR, Narrowband)
• Review antenna configurations, tower loading, and equipment specs
• Create BOMs, installation drawings, and cost estimates
• Support site installation, integration, and validation activities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support project delivery

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in RF Engineering / Microwave (MW) systems
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Pathloss 6
  • Infovista Planet
• Experience in MW link design, RF planning, and wireless systems engineering
• Knowledge of LTE/5G, LMR, and Narrowband technologies
• Experience with link budgets, RF propagation, and interference analysis
• Ability to perform MW path surveys and LOS analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with utility or telecom infrastructure projects
• Hands-on experience with MW radio configuration
• Exposure to client-facing roles and technical presentations
• PE License (preferred, not required)

Additional Details:

• Experience Range: 5–8 years (STRICT)
• Travel: 0–25% (within the U.S.)
• Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• Rate: Flexible based on experience
