Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) / Data Analyst on behalf of our client in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud data platforms, strong SQL and analytical skills, and a background in database administration or data analysis. This role involves managing, optimizing, and automating cloud data warehouses while collaborating closely with data engineering and analytics teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and optimize cloud data platforms, specifically Amazon Redshift and Google BigQuery.

  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

  • Handle user access, security controls, and ensure compliance.

  • Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost monitoring.

  • Collaborate on scalable data warehouse design, including partitioning, clustering, and distribution strategies.

  • Contribute to data modeling and schema design best practices for analytics workloads.

  • Build scripts and automation for monitoring, deployment, and maintenance.

  • Optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for performance and cost efficiency.

  • Implement observability and workload management tools to ensure smooth operations.

Required Qualifications

  • 7-8+ years of experience as a DBA, Data Engineer, or Data Analyst with database administration exposure.

  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Redshift and Google BigQuery.

  • Strong SQL skills with query optimization expertise.

  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as dbt, Airflow, Talend, or similar.

  • Knowledge of AWS and Google Cloud Platform cloud environments.

  • Understanding of data security and access control practices.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cloud data warehouse cost optimization.

  • Exposure to automation and scripting.

  • Background supporting analytics and business intelligence workloads.
