Working at Citi is far more than just a job. A career with us means joining a team of approximately 219,000 dedicated people from around the globe. At Citi, you'll have the opportunity to grow your career, give back to your community and make a real impact.

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Software Test Analyst to join our growing Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will play a critical part in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) by ensuring that our software products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, performance, and security.

As a Software Test Analyst, you will design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases, identify and document software defects, and collaborate closely with software developers, product managers, and business analysts. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of both manual and automated testing methodologies, API testing, database verification, and Agile/Scrum frameworks

Responsibilities:

Test Planning & Design
  • Requirement Analysis: Analyze product requirements, user stories, and technical design documents to identify testing requirements and define test coverage.
  • Test Case Development: Design, write, and maintain detailed, reusable, and easy-to-understand test cases, test scripts, and test data for functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
  • Test Strategy Collaboration: Participate in QA planning sessions, estimating testing efforts and contributing to the overall test strategy.
Test Execution & Defect Management
  • Manual & Automated Execution: Execute manual test cases and run automated test scripts across various platforms (Web, Mobile, Desktop) and environments.
  • Defect Tracking: Identify, isolate, replicate, and document software defects in a clear and concise manner using defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Triage & Verification: Collaborate with developers to resolve defects, perform re-testing, and conduct thorough regression testing to ensure fixes do not introduce new issues.
  • API & Database Testing: Perform backend testing, including API validation and database verification using SQL queries to ensure data integrity.
Collaboration & Agile Participation
  • Agile Ceremonies: Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint retrospectives.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Work closely with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and provide timely feedback on quality risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, testing standards, and best practices within the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills
  • Testing Methodologies: Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes (STLC, SDLC).
  • Test Management Tools: Hands-on experience with test management tools such as Jira, Zephyr, TestRail, or HP ALM.
  • API Testing: Proficiency in testing RESTful APIs using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or Swagger.
  • Database/SQL: Solid understanding of relational databases and ability to write SQL queries (SELECT, JOINs, etc.) to verify backend data.
  • Platform Familiarity: Experience testing web applications across multiple browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and mobile operating systems (iOS, Android).
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Professional & Soft Skills
  • Analytical Thinking: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Time Management: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple testing tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team
Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years of professional experience as a Software Test Analyst, QA Engineer, or in a similar software quality assurance role.
