Key Responsibilities:

Network Architecture & Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, stable, and secure network services (LAN/WAN/WLAN).
Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE): A major focus for current DOT roles is managing and administering the Cisco ISE environment for network access control.
IPv6 Transition: Lead the enterprise-wide transition from IPv4 to IPv6 across various network domains.
Security Integration: Designing and managing security measures, including Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Firepower VPNs, and implementing automated security probes.
Virtualization: Collaborate with virtualization teams to ensure physical network hardware interoperates seamlessly with VMware-based virtual environments.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Solve the most complex Tier 3/4 network issues that lower-level engineers cannot resolve.

Core Technical Requirements:

Category	Requirements
Experience	Typically 10+ years of network engineering/architecture experience.
Hardware	Cisco Routers/Switches (Catalyst & Nexus), Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Firepower.
Protocols	Expert-level BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, QoS, and Spanning Tree (STP).
Software/Tools	Cisco ISE (High Priority), Wireshark, SolarWinds, or NetBrain.
Education	BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (equivalent experience often accepted).
Certifications	CCNP (Enterprise/Security) is usually the minimum; CCIE is highly preferred for SME levels.
