Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HL7 Interface Analyst / Integration Analyst to design, develop, code, test, implement, and support enterprise healthcare integration solutions. This is a hands-on technical role requiring extensive experience developing and coding HL7 interfaces—not simply monitoring or administering interfaces.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in HL7 v2.x development, interface engine technologies, message mapping, transformations, routing, debugging, and healthcare interoperability within hospital or healthcare environments.

Important: This position requires candidates who have personally written and modified HL7 code. Candidates whose experience is limited to interface support, monitoring, administration, or coordination without hands-on HL7 development will not be considere

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, code, test, deploy, and maintain healthcare integration solutions.
  • Develop and modify HL7 v2.x interfaces using enterprise interface engines.
  • Perform hands-on HL7 programming, including message mapping, transformations, routing, parsing, validation, and customization.
  • Build and support interfaces for clinical workflows using HL7 message types such as ADT, ORM, ORU, and related transactions.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex interface issues using message logs and debugging tools.
  • Gather business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable integration solutions.
  • Create interface specifications, workflow documentation, and technical design documents.
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Support production deployments and ongoing interface maintenance.
  • Collaborate with hospitals, healthcare clients, vendors, application teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure healthcare interoperability standards and integration best practices are followed.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Healthcare IT, Interface Development, Healthcare Integration, or HL7 Development.
  • Hands-on HL7 coding and development experience is mandatory.
  • Must have experience writing, modifying, debugging, and maintaining HL7 code directly.
  • Strong experience with HL7 v2.x messaging standards.
  • Experience developing HL7 message types including ADT, ORM, ORU
  • Strong experience with: HL7 Interface Development, Message Mapping, Message Transformation, Message Routing, Message Validation, HL7 Parsing, Interface Testing, Production Support, Interface Troubleshooting
  • Experience with one or more interface engines such as: Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect), Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, Corepoint, InterSystems Ensemble, InterSystems HealthShare, Enterprise Interface Engine
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using interface logs and message analyzers.
  • Experience supporting healthcare interoperability solutions within hospital or health system environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor''s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FHIR and Healthcare APIs.
  • SQL experience and healthcare database knowledge.
  • Experience integrating with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and clinical workflows.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
