Business IT Senior Analyst – Houston, TX
iSphere is looking for a Business IT Senior Analyst for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity in Houston. This is an onsite role with about 25% travel, and it is definitely not your standard “sit in meetings and write requirements” analyst job.
We need someone who understands the business side of manufacturing and also knows enough about technology to connect the dots. You’ll work with Operations, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and IT to figure out what is working, what is slowing people down, and where better systems or better processes can make a real difference.
A big piece of this role is being the person who can talk to someone on the operations side, understand what they actually need, then turn that into something the technical team can build or improve. ERP, manufacturing systems, production planning, reporting, analytics, integrations, and business applications will all be part of the world you’re working in.
You’ll also own projects from beginning to end. That could mean evaluating software, helping select a vendor, coordinating an implementation, working through problems, keeping stakeholders informed, training users, or making sure a new system actually gets adopted instead of becoming another expensive tool nobody wants to use.
The steel experience here matters. This isn’t one of those job descriptions where an industry requirement gets thrown in as a wish-list item. They really do want someone who understands steel-related businesses and the processes that come with them.
The main things we need are:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of business analysis or similar experience in a steel-related business
- Strong ERP and business applications experience
- Manufacturing process experience
- Experience gathering requirements and translating them into functional specifications
- Experience improving business results through ERP, digitalization, reporting, analytics, or data visualization
- Strong project leadership skills
- Ability to work comfortably with both technical and nontechnical teams
- Willingness to travel about 25%
If you also know steel plate or cut-to-length operations, nesting software, production scheduling, Tableau, Power BI, or manufacturing execution systems, even better. An MBA and 15+ years of overall experience would also get some attention.
There are no direct reports, but you’ll have plenty of opportunity to lead. This role needs someone who can get different groups moving in the same direction without needing their name above everyone else’s on an org chart.
If you know steel, understand manufacturing, and can bridge the gap between business people and IT without making either side want to leave the room, iSphere wants to talk with you.
