Walker Healthforce is seeking a Senior Java Developer with 9+ years of experience to support a public sector client based out of Santa Fe, NM. This is an 18-month contract opportunity.
START DATE: 9/29/2025
RATE RANGE: $35-$40
WORKER TYPE: W2
CORE REQUIREMENTS:
- 9+ years of experience as a Senior Developer
- Experience leading migration projects from mainframe to Java-based systems
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools
- Strong hands-on experience in Java development (Spring Boot, REST APIs, etc.)
- Proficiency in front-end development using Angular or ReactJS
- Demonstrated experience leading migration projects from mainframe to Java environments
- Exceptional communication skills are essential for collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences
- Proven ability to work with clients and internal teams to resolve production issues and manage change requests
- Demonstrate leadership and management skills
- Possess the ability to guide teams through complex technical transformations
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead end-to-end migration of legacy mainframe applications to modern Java and front-end (Angular/ReactJS) platforms
- Architect, design, develop, and deploy scalable Java applications with integrated front-end solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of developers, fostering skill growth and best practices
- Collaborate with clients, business analysts, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Communicate project status, technical concepts, and complex issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Oversee resolution of day-to-day production issues and manage change requests efficiently
- Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure high-quality deliverables
- Coordinate project tasks, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution
- Document migration strategies, technical solutions, and process improvements
