Job Details

An established defense manufacturing company in Richardson, Texas is seeking a hands-on IT Manager to oversee its technology environment and support approximately 140 employees across two nearby locations.

This is a player-coach position for an experienced IT professional who can lead one direct report while remaining actively involved in Microsoft 365 administration, infrastructure, security, troubleshooting and executive-level support. The company is looking for someone who has built their career in IT, possesses a related degree and can take full ownership of day-to-day technology operations.

Responsibilities
Manage the company's Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Entra ID
Administer user accounts, licensing, security groups, MFA, conditional access and privileged access
Maintain Microsoft Defender, email-security policies, data protection and security controls
Provide hands-on technical support and problem resolution for employees and company leadership
Lead, mentor and develop one IT support professional
Oversee technology operations across two locations approximately five miles apart
Monitor systems, identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions
Manage vendors, software licensing, equipment procurement and outside technology partners
Develop PowerShell scripts and automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual work
Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, procedures and disaster-recovery plans
Support cybersecurity, compliance and audit-readiness initiatives
Evaluate technology needs and recommend infrastructure, security and process improvements
Manage escalated issues involving endpoints, identity, collaboration tools, connectivity and business applications
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or a related field
8+ years of progressive IT experience
Previous experience leading employees, projects or an IT function
Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365
Advanced knowledge of Exchange Online, Entra ID, Teams and SharePoint
Experience with MFA, conditional access, Microsoft Defender and identity security
PowerShell scripting and IT automation experience
Strong troubleshooting skills across systems, endpoints, applications and networks
Experience supporting executives and employees with varying levels of technical proficiency
Ability to operate independently and take ownership of the company's technology environment
Strong communication, documentation and vendor-management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting a manufacturing, aerospace, defense or government-contracting environment
Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, DLP, retention and eDiscovery
Experience with Intune, endpoint management and device-security policies
Familiarity with cybersecurity and compliance frameworks such as NIST or CMMC
Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, SC-300, AZ-104 or equivalent
